Instructions and Information For Skaters
1. How do you find supporters?

Supporters are all the wonderful people in your life! Anyone can make a donation to support RAJRD. Take some time and make a list of all the people you know who might find it fun to see how many laps you can do! Family, neighbors, friends, teachers, and others!

2. How do you ask for Pledges?
You can ask people to sponsor you in lots of ways…
  • Ask them in person or calling them on the phone.
  • You can email or even message them on social media.
  • You can even share the Facebook Event.
Tell people about our team and how amazing the sport of roller derby is!
Let them know that funds raised will be used to pay for our practice space, loaner closet, game day venues and allow the league to have an awesome end of year party!
3. How much should people donate per lap?

That is up to them, but you can help them figure out how many laps you might be able to skate in 30 minutes by multiplying your lap time (available on your skater sponsor page) to estimate what you might do in 30 mins.
Some people might pledge 10¢ or a quarter or even $1/lap.

4. Where do the funds go?

Rochester Area Junior Roller Derby is a nonprofit dedicated to youth development through the sport of roller derby. Donations are tax deductible. All funds raised will be used to support team's activities this year!

5. How do you collect donations?

When your supporter says “YES” you will ask them to go fill out our sponsorship form on the "Sponsor A Skater" page.
They will put in their information and how much they want to pledge, either per lap, or a flat amount. At the end of the laps, your supporter will be sent an email “invoice” that tells them how many laps you did and what their total donation will be. They will be able to pay by cash, check, PayPal, Venmo or credit card. Pledge link:

Or, you can go to that link yourself, select your name, and use that url to send them directly to your page.

6. How can my supporters watch me skate?

Your supporters can either be invited in person, or, if they pledged with a valid email address, a youtube link will be sent to them. When the event starts, that link will show a live stream of the event.

7. What is your fundraising goal?

Skaters need to have at least one donation/pledge in any amount to participate on March 12th. After that it is up to you about how much you want to try to raise. There will be a prize for most money raised as well as a prize for the highest number of different supporters.

All sponsorship pledges must be made by March 12th.
